Antonio Sabato Jr.'s Book Screws Up Jagger History

In case you haven’t heard the news or are a bit behind on your General Hospital viewing, we’ll be the ones to break it to you: Jagger is back for the first time in nearly 30 years! (Outside of his appearance on General Hospital: Night Shift, that is.) He’s gone from a police officer to an FBI agent in the time he’s been gone and also shifted from being played by Antonio Sabato Jr. to Adam J. Harrington.

Sabato Jr. had a few words about the recast, acknowledging that General Hospital was free to do whatever they pleased, but suggesting that the role was hugely important and inextricably linked to him.

Fans, however, questioned just how important the role had been to the actor given an excerpt from his autobiography which was riddled with inaccurate information.

Just to give a little background to folks who may not have been around during the Jagger years, Stone’s big brother really only had one great love: Scotty’s daughter, Karen Wexler. Sure, he had a little fling with Brenda while Jagger and Karen were figuring out their feelings, but that was little more than a blip on their path to marriage.

Karen was the only woman for him, right up until they married and rode off into the sunset on his motorcycle. (Not the choice we would have made since this happened right after he nearly killed himself in another motorcycle crash, but Jagger had a whole bad boy thing going on, so sure.)

Eventually, they divorced after Jagger cheated on Karen, but that was a few years later and it happened off-screen. Karen would later return to Port Charles sans her spouse, with Jennifer Hammon stepping into Shayne’s shoes. And while Jagger was a very popular character for several years, the actor’s book — Sabato: The Untold Story — barely mentions his time on the soap and, as the tweet below indicates, gets much of the information wrong.

As evidenced above, the actor’s memoir claims that Jagger rode off into the sunset with… Sharon Newman. Not only does it wrongly reference the Young & Restless character, but it goes on to suggest that he and Sharon’s portrayer — Sharon Case — were an item.

As Marie-Eve Mongrain helpfully pointed out on Twitter, “I mean, Sharon was on GH, but not with him.” In fact, before joining the Genoa City-set soap, Case played Port Charles’ Dawn. However, she’d departed the show several years before Jagger was even introduced!

Angela, on the other hand, provided helpful visual aides, explaining who Cari and Karen were as, you know, “the person he worked with almost the entirety of his three year run.”

And there was even a clip from their final scene on the show, as Jagger and Sharon Karen rode off into the sunset together after a beautiful wedding ceremony!

Needless to say, many of the comments which followed were as humorous as they were occasionally scathing, with blame being equally placed on the actor and his co-author, Tony Moore, as well as anyone responsible for editing the tome.
