Beyonc & Jay-Z Sell New Orleans Church Home: Photos

We didn’t even know Beyoncé and Jay-Z had a New Orleans residence, but they are putting it up for sale for $4.45 million after buying it in 2015. There are a lot of mysteries surrounding this property, including a fire started by an arsonist at the location in July. It’s unclear whether the superstar couple has ever resided in the 13,292-square-foot home, but their entity Sugarcane Park LLC, run by Tina Knowles and owned by Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment company, is listed on the deed.

The house has a fascinating history as it was once a Presbyterian church, and then home to a ballet company, until it was turned into a residence in 2000 — and it’s honestly an artist’s dream come true. With bright, natural light and high ceilings, the creative vibe can flow for a musician or a dancer. And don’t let these dated photos fool you, the Zillow images are from the prior owner, according to Dirt, so there might have been some much-needed renovations during the Carters’ tenure there. With seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms, it truly is a New Orleans palace, just around the corner from the city’s famed St. Charles Avenue in the Garden District.

Don’t miss the photos of Beyoncé and Jay-Z really cool, but really unusual, mansion — the art studio is amazing — and be sure to check out more images at Dirt.

  • An Eclectic History

If these walls could talk. There have to be a ton of stories about a church that turned into a ballet studio — and then was owned by Jay-Z and Beyoncé.

  • Bright Interior

The natural light and high ceilings give this property a warm, welcoming feel.

  • Stunning Architecture

The house has good bones — lots of details in the architecture and woodwork show that fine craftsmanship went into building the property.

  • A Dining Room with Character

There’s something about a red dining room that adds a dramatic flair to a dining room — we wonder if the Carters kept the drama when they owned it.

  • Mix of Styles in the Kitchen

This kitchen shows a little bit of old and a little bit of new. It needs updating, but those arched windows are divine.

  • A Quaint Place for Conversation

A small sitting room is a part of architecture that has been lost in modern homes. We love the cozy feel of this area.

  • Formal Bedroom

The primary bedroom makes a big statement with bold colors and contrasting heavy drapery.

  • Relaxing Bathtub

Standalone tubs by a window is a design choice that never goes out of style.

  • An Artist’s Dream

Every artist needs a room of one’s own — and this is it. Whether it is dance, art or music studio, this area of the home allows the creative juices to flow.

  • Ready For an Update

OK, we have to use our imagination here because this rooftop garden needs a little TLC. But with magnificent views of the Garden District in New Orleans, this could be quite a spectacular outdoor space
