Our shows were not on today (day after Thanksgiving) so I tuned into Days of our Lives and OMG it was an eye owner.

I’ve watched it on and off for years and today I realized how horribly bad it really is.
Watching Marlena become Satin for the umteenth time was all it took to see how great our two soaps really are.

Today’s episode was so, so asinine, stupid, and cartoonish, it was an insult to the great actors, past and present, who have been on Days over the years.

All I can say is that how much we find fault with our shows, even having Paris show up in EVERY SCENE, is still better than one second of Days.

So, if you want a huge Soap reality check, tune into Days for one episode and I think most of you will agree.

I’ve watched Days since the beginning (almost). I’m actually enjoying it now and find it entertaining. It is campy, ridiculous, but I like to see the humor in it. Some of the actors, especially Deidre Hall, seem to having a lot of fun with it.

I also tuned in today b/c Y&R wasn’t on, and I thought it was hilarious the way that Julie was sass talking ‘Satan’

But yeah, Mar-devil and the making of a film about Mar-devil is just a little to ‘devilish’ for me!

The devil story is more humorous than scary but I still find it way more entertaining than anything offered on BB. First, a whole cast is involved and the writing doesn’t seem slanted so that one or two characters are obviously favored.

The devil is interesting because the allegedly good and moral people are being challenged and unlike on BB they are making tough choices and being true to themselves instead of doing the same as everyone else and just claiming their goodness but never displaying or living out their alleged beliefs. You had Susan saying she’s a good person and the devil telling her she had to kill another good man, John, or the devil would kill her only child. Susan chose to stab herself, in the hope’s that her own sacrifice would be enough for the devil. You had Julie stand up to the devil and tell him to his face he’s nothing more than a trickster and that love would always defeat and she and her husband had loved each other for over 40 , years and wasn’t afraid of him.

Not one person on BB that’s allegedly a good person shows it or sacrifices for anything or anyone. The familial bonds just aren’t there on BB because everyone must love hope, Brooke, or Liam more than anything else including their own children. Even now, Sheila is supposed to be close to being as evil as the devil himself but ridge I instead of going to war for her or any of his grandkids, he’s first concerned about his step daddys Ed problem and now it’s his stepdaughter wanting a relationship with her daddy. Nobody on Days would have stood by and allowed their grandson to be snatched away from their grieving son and thought that was best. The villains on days are clearly defined who they are and own it. Someone would have told hope the facts about her sleeping and chasing a married man while proclaiming her goodness and claiming the moral high ground.

At least old bonds are acknowledged instead of being rewritten. A man doesn’t have to rewrite history and act as if he never loved a previous spouse or the children from said union to appease the current love.

And therre’s the problem. Why should we be told to like selfish, nasty characters who only hurt others? If they repent and are truly sorry, then they should be given a second chance but praising rotten characters and trying to make us like them doesn’t cut it.

Isn’t it funny how everyone gets praised for their philanthropy except the Forresters who are the only ones giving away their money? I suggested years ago that fc should have done a scholarship in Phoebe’s name for single mothers to go to school. That’s why I ignore their request when they ask for suggestions. It’s always hope, Liam, now Paris and zende wanting credit for all the amazing donations when none of them have given a dime of their own money. Liam allegedly wanted to start a foundation but bill said no so Liam just dropped it. Why couldn’t he use his connections of working years as an upper level management at sp and fc and get donations. He and hope couldn’t even keep the cat they adopted for more than a couple of weeks.

That was great scene! People accuse Julie of being a big mouth and intruding into other people’s lives, but she was spot on with the devil.
