Is Young & Restless' Hayley Erin Staying as Claire? Is She Eve?
As the Newmans’ showdown with Aunt Jordan and Claire came to its dramatic conclusion, the family was taken off to the hospital with it’s patriarch declaring that both women were crazy. But we’re certain the story’s not over, and the next twist involving Claire could turn well-entrenched relationships upside-down.
There’s no questioning Victor’s contention that Aunt Jordan is criminally insane — there’s also no question that Jordan will be back to torment the Newmans in the future — but what about Claire?
Toward the end of their ordeal, Victor confidently declared that Claire was just as crazy as her so-called aunt and deemed her “nuts”. Victoria, at an earlier point, said the whole thing was one big con and told her mother’s assistant she was delusional.
Things took a slight turn when, eyes gleaming, Jordan confessed to having stolen Victoria and Claire’s premature newborn, Eve, from the NICU. This gave Victoria pause, but she continued to assure Claire that it was impossible. Softening toward the young woman who had lured them to the lake house, Victoria even told her, “I’m sorry,” but continued to vow to both her and an unsettled Cole that there was no chance she was their daughter.
But how could Jordan’s assertion that the baby they buried was not their own not plant a seed of doubt?
We expect that seed of doubt to grow into a full-blown need to know the truth. Both Victoria and Cole at some point during the ordeal promised to help Claire if she helped them… and help them she did in the end. Of course, they’re under no obligation to follow through given that they very nearly perished at the young woman’s hand. Leaving her to her fate would certainly be an option.
But what kind of soap story would this be if Victoria and Cole simply walked away and went on with their lives?
Young & Restless subtly but surely established a connection of sorts between Claire and Victoria, and we’re guessing the latter won’t be able to get the former out of her mind — which will lead to her taking action.
The logical next move is for Victoria to undertake a DNA test to “prove” to Claire that she’s not her daughter, which, of course, will instead indicate that either she is her daughter or at least that she could be. There’s no point to the story if she’s not.
But considering the horrifying circumstances under which Claire has come into Victoria’s life, a mother-daughter relationship would be tricky at best to navigate. Yet, somehow, we know that Victoria wouldn’t be able to turn her back on her flesh and blood no matter what she’s done. Sound familiar?
A long-held point of contention between Victoria and Victor has been his unwillingness to turn his back on Adam, who has also done horrific things to the family. Might Victoria suddenly have a seismic shift in perception should she find the shoe on her own foot with Claire?
We have to assume that the family will be against Victoria bringing Claire into the fold after nearly murdering the lot of them, which means Vick will find herself in the unique position of understanding exactly how Victor has felt in trying to get them to accept Adam.
Not only would this change the dynamic between Victoria and Victor for good, since she’ll finally be able to see his point of view, but there’s an outside chance that it could cause a shift in her long-held animosity toward Adam.
Why? Perhaps she’ll agree to give Adam a shot if Victor will do the same for Claire.
