Is Young & Restless Mom-to-Be Camryn Grimes Gay? Her Explanation Here

While “Teriah” fans have been thrilled to see Tessa and Mariah pop back up on The Young and the Restless lately, things aren’t going quite as swimmingly for half of the pairing off screen. Fan fave Camryn Grimes was forced to clear the air recently, after a hater espoused some truly bizarre factoids about her and accused her of lying about her life.

A Twitter troll lashed out at Grimes on September 19 with a laundry list of baseless complaints, including claims that the beloved, two-time Emmy-winning actress “lied about being bisexual” and “was never fired because her family has shares” in Young & Restless. (Who knew a daytime soap was a publicly traded corporation with shareholders?)

The very pregnant Grimes took time out of her night to tackle the ludicrous tweets — when she probably wanted to be putting up her swollen feet and eating some pre-sleep pickles and ice cream. “I graduated high school at 18, moved to New York briefly, worked odd jobs until I was 23 and returned,” she said of her 2013 comeback to Young & Restless.

“People absolutely get fired and rehired all the time,” she wrote, refuting the idea that she could come and go from the show as she pleased. “My family has no ‘shares’ or stake in the show whatsoever, nor is that how any of that works.”

The insistent troll was not appeased and kept going, accusing Grimes of lying about her sexuality and pretending to be bisexual to placate her partner, voice actor and director Brock Powell. “I am bisexual, not sure how you figure that one,” the extremely patient Grimes fired back. Longtime Young & Restless fans will remember that Grimes confirmed her bisexuality back in 2020.

“Alright, I tried to contend your claims with fact and logic, but it’s clear there’s no reasoning in or with you,” a weary Grimes tweeted. “I’m sorry you have such a bug up your butt about me. Can’t win ’em all, I guess.”

Camryn Grimes, Cait Fairbanks, mariah, tessa

Affronted that Grimes dared speak up for herself, the hater blasted her for “arguing” and even compared her to co-star and on-screen wife Cait Fairbanks, who has very little social media presence. That was when the accommodating Grimes threw in the towel — and who could blame her? She held out far longer than some of us at Soaps.com would have!

“Look, I was just trying to correct some things you had wrong about me and my life,” she said as a final word on the subject. “If you don’t want that, it’s really fine by me. And Cait isn’t on Twitter for this very reason — so, yeah, she probably has the right idea.”
