Question: If MAB’s writing was so bad, don’t you think her husband, Brad Bell, Jr. would have tried to rein her in?? Why would he sit back and watch her ‘trash’ his parents’ ‘baby’, then watch her get fired?? Care to comment, anyone? 8)

first of all she’s married to Bill Bell Jr who runs the business end of the shows. The famil probably thought and said MAB did a wonderful job just to keep peace in the family, I remember one thing that Colleen (Carlton) was named after Brad’s wife Bill Bell Sr did that, I don’t remember any Marias floating around Y&R do you? She did a poor job and I hope they don’t ever put her back on

I don’t think that the Bell’s care about anything but thier bottom line. Mr. Bell has gone and with him, he took two of the best soap opera’s ever written. What he created has been so trashed by his family, that they have shown how little respect they actually had for his creativity, his hard work and the masterpieces that he created. Not one of them even have half of his creativity or his respect for the craft. Baby Bell has done the same thing at B&B. They have just trashed the soaps. They will never be the real drama, romance and good solid storylines that Mr. Bell wrote. If they would have cared anything about Y&R, they would have never gotten rid of Latham. She was actually the only one who replaced Mr. Bell that actually understood what he was doing and how to bring this show forward into the 21st century. She didn’t use old anitiquated formula’s, she was more creative than that. But, MAB walked in with her nasty vendetta against Latham, for whatever her stupid reasons, and just trashed this show to smithereens! I can’t say that Phelps is any worse because frankly, they are all hacks with no talent and none of them should have ever been hired to do the jobs they are in to begin with. Hollywood is full of great produers and wonderful head writers with talent. For whatever the reason, the Bell’s and Sony/CBS are either just too stupid or lazy or both, or just not into this enough to go out and find them. Both shows are on the down-o-lator and headed for a crash and frankly, they deserve to. They are both horribly written.

If I remember correctly, Latham is the one that fired Jerry Douglas who played John Abbott… because she did not think men should run a cosmetic company… soooooooo, she was not allll that good… Bill Bell created that character…

I don’t think any of the regimes that have taken over since Bill Bell left is worth crap… They took the BEST soap and tried to make a name for “themselves” ONLY… riding on his coat tails!!! As the years have gone by it has been so diluted, of course it does not resemble the original creation… but as long as it makes money for Sony… they don’t care… and the Bell family got rich off of it years ago… so why should they care?? They are NOT creators.

It is the loooooong time viewer like me, since 1976 when I was 40… who cares… but I recognize we are living in a different time frame and long time viewers don’t mean a thing. Sony, itself is using Y&R as a jumping board to create something new is what I am seeing. It might be good and it might be horrible… I know it cannot be the same… the actors are much older… can no longer play leading roles…they have also done the same story lones far too many times… times have changed, hence the story lines have to change… Soaps are being dumped left and right… so, Sony either wants it gone or a totally different product produced.

As viewers, we will have to watch and see if we like it… if not… turn it off… it is very simple.

I have watched the new Dallas several times and I don’t care for it at all… and yet I have read where Posters feel it is a great follow up… I don’t… I have NEVER seen a follow up to a classic ever meet the standards of the original… so what’s new???

I am only watching since 2006 so I have no idea who was writing back when I started. So if it was MAB, I was fascinated with the show and looked forward to watch every episode. The stories were compelling, every T was crossed, every I was dotted. The only fault was concentrating on only a few vets all the time. But the stories were far more exciting. I would welcome MAB back anytime.

My opinion is MAB wasn’t horrible, especially in the beginning. But her attitudes toward the end of her reign was not attractive. I do believe the sl’s became worse and her “I don’t care what the fans say” attitude left the disgruntled fans more annoyed. She should have known the history of the show but I don’t know she really respected the history of the characters. I think LML gave us great short stories with climax but no ending. There were too many one day gems that were just dropped and left me wondering what happened to this sl??? If she could have pulled it all together she wouldn’t have been so bad.

I also agree MAB wasn’t so bad now!!And JFP won’t get any of her stories back!!I sorely think Sharon now needs a visit from Sam!He’s her only friend,she lost all her others acting so totally CRAZY!!I just want to see her call Sam,he’s a good and decent man!He’ll understand and listen to her troubles better than Nick!Nick’s into Avery,and it’s sickening seeing Sharon acting like a dog in heat around him!Worse yet,she’s starting to allow little Faith to act like a mini-Sharon!!Saying,“My tummy hurts”,just when he had to get Avery!!Oh,mommy must be proud of her!!A real mini-Sharon,that one is!!I will take MAB’s s/l’s over JFP(The Soap-Killer),any darn day of the week!!
