Maple Syrup Lovers Will Fall Hard For Martha Stewarts Maple Cake

Maple is one of those fall flavors many of us just can’t get enough of this time of year — and truthfully, it’s often overshadowed by pumpkin spice and apple cider. But in this delicious cake recipe from Martha Stewart, maple syrup is the star. A great dessert to serve at all your fall dinner parties (including Thanksgiving!), the overall flavor is light, sweet, buttery, and of course, perfectly mapley.

“The incomparable flavor of pure maple syrup is reason enough to make this sweet treat!” the caption of a recent Martha Stewart Instagram post reads. “There’s maple syrup in both the batter and the frosting of this caramel-y cake, plus it’s easy to make.” Martha Stewart Related story Martha Stewart Just Shared a 2-Ingredient Watermelon Punch Bowl Recipe That Kids & Adults Will Both Love

To make Stewart’s Maple Cake, you’ll need all the basics like butter, flour, both baking soda and powder, salt, sugar — both granulated and confectioners’ — eggs, and vanilla. But this recipe also calls for sour cream for a bit of tang to cut through the sweet and maple syrup.

“Maple syrup is marked and graded by its color, ranging from light to dark—the darker the color, the more intense the flavor,” the Instagram caption continues. “If you can find grade B, use it here for both the batter and the icing.”

The cake comes together in just about an hour, so you can make it in the early afternoon and enjoy it after dinner. And according to those who have tried the recipe, it’s a win all the way.

“Made this for 2018 Thanksgiving for those that don’t like pumpkin pie. It was a big hit,” one person wrote on the recipe page on Stewart’s website. “I’m leery of maple flavor being too strong, but this was mild and I like that. Next time I’m adding bits of bacon to the frosting. It just seemed like it would be awesome with bacon. Isn’t everything though?” Martha Stewart Related story Martha Stewart Just Shared a 2-Ingredient Watermelon Punch Bowl Recipe That Kids & Adults Will Both Love

Someone else added, “What a lovely cake, not too sweet and quite easy to make … It stores well in an airtight container and our family is still enjoying it three days later.”
