Sick of the exposed breasts! - The Young and the Restless

I’m so tired of looking at boobs on this show. They usually dress Nikki in classy, age appropriate clothes but the teal dress with the open chest was a bit much. Now, Ashley is wearing another too small dress with her boobs jutting out and a pot belly showing. I noticed Peter Bergman couldn’t help but glance down at her chest a couple times. I’ve never seen a corporate executive come to work dressed like that. I wish the writers would show more respect for the actresses and women in general. They can be attractive and stylish without being objectified. Any thoughts?

Oh my gosh, so glad to see this post, I was thinking the same thing, that dress was so inappropriate for the office, and I did see Peter Bergman catch a few glances at Ashley’s boobs, after all they were practically falling out when she leaned over his desk, is that the way sisters dress and act in front of their brothers? Wow! Lauren also looked like a hooker again today with her meeting with Jack, dress with boob cutout and slit up to her hips, seriously, is this the new office attire look? Writers get a clue!

Yep,it’s a Boob-a-Rama! I guess they think it’s what everyone wants to see.

I have small breasts, but if I had big breasts, I would NEVER have them sticking out the top of my blouse or dress…it is rude, actually. My two daughter-in-laws wear blouses like that, and it is SOOO uncomfortable at the dinner table or when my husband and I visit our grandchildren…
There are soooo many beautiful dresses, and blouses that are stylish and in good taste…It is even happening at church these days…(debauchery)
Yes, I am sick of the exposed breasts on Y&R…no need for it…
I think they are making Ashley a horny old woman for a young man… Gross…

Then they are not thinking. I imagine a large percentage of viewers are women and older women at that. We are not interested in boobage. I do miss the pool parties with masculine eye candy in swim trunks though.

Well that’s my calculations also. I’m sure there are men that watch because a few comment from time to time but the majority are women. I really don’t want to see boobs .

My experience in working in a corporate office you would never see so much boob on clothes worn by woman executives. Maybe Eileen gets to wear those dresses on Housewives but she definitely looks like a hooker on Y&R. And don’t get me started on Lauren. Her fake hair looks awful, girl get rid of the extensions. The outfit today looked like they bought it at one of those stores that hookers buy their clothes. No class at all real tacky. I was surprised at the teal dress that Niki had on Victoria Secret must have been having a sale. Writers/producers do you watch this show at all?!!

Hard to believe Grandma Nicky wearing that revealing dress while her grandson visits!! Put on a sweater, Hoochie!! This aint no strip joint! And Ashley’s dress? In the office? What the heck? :open_mouth:

We really were not allowed to wear a split skirt if it did not fall below the knee nor a sun dress even if we kept our lab coats on over it. It proved simpler to just wear slacks and a blouse or shirt. (And then you could wear more comfortable shoes). That was a hospital department but I really can’t see business executives wearing hooker dresses to work either.

She probably does not see anything wrong with it. Remember when Noah was a little boy & she was showing him her scrapbook with her in her pole dancing outfits? I think one was a white rabbit fur bikini. And she got really po’ed when Sharon suggested that Noah was a little young to see pix like that. She thought what she did was “art” I think.

Phyllis and Lauren is the worse for this and it get’s so old.

  it does look like there may have been a sale at “Fredricks of Hollywood” for the mor mature ladies…tops down to there and slits up to here fits!

Maybe Victoria will get jealous and get some herself!

So it’s okay for the men to show their bodies but when the women show a little cleavage, it’s gross. How hypocritical. A woman looks like a hooker when she shows some body but if a man does it, he’s eye candy. :unamused: That dress that Ashley was wearing had a chest cut out that looked like something Audrey Hepburn would wear or Marilyn Monroe. So it’s nothing the “older generation” should be surprised with seeing. unless you all just hate when older women show cleavage?

Audrey Hepburn and maybe even Marilyn Monroe would have enough sense not to wear a low cut dress or blouse to a business office. Even when they are not in the work place they look foolish having lunch with friends with boobs popping out. It has nothing to do with age, it is about being socially appropriate. Of all the years I worked in corporate offices and non-profit agencies, nobody came to work dressed like these women on Y & R. I don’t think things have changed that much where it is appropriate to come to work with boobs exposed. Most businesses have a dress code and it does not include revealing clothes, halter tops, sun dresses, slits up the thigh, or very short skirts. Flip flops and certain types of sandals are not permitted either. I don’t know what you consider to be “older generation” but there are no age limits to class or good taste. When we say Lauren, Phyllis or Nikki are too old to dress that way, it simply means because of age, they should be wise enough to know better.

These are supposed to be successful business women and they dress like hookers on a street corner.

yes but it’s not like this is a real representation of the real world. It’s fiction. It’s what the characters are wearing so what’s the point in calling them hookers?

I did not call anyone a hooker. I’m sure everyone knows it is fiction but that does not mean it cannot be discussed. The purpose of this discussion board is to discuss what we think. That’s exactly what people are doing. You don’t have to agree. If someone goes to a book club meeting, would they announce they don’t want to talk about the book?

It’s more than a little ironic that a show that owes its success mostly to women and is still looking to attract and keep the attention of the 18+ year-old primarily female audience continues to offend many 18+ year-old primarily females. I wonder how long this phenomena would continue if a certain part of the male anatomy was constantly on exhibition–with or without an expanded ( ) view. Men don’t seem to have a problem putting women on exhibition but they do seem to have a problem displaying their own “short comings”.

Sally isn’t just the head writer that so many are complaining about (although personally I’m enjoying Y&R more than I have in years), she is also EP. Then there is that CBS daytime Angelica person. I won’t totally blame the men involved for the boob fest, but why ED was wearing that dress is totally beyond my comprehension. Maybe the show is slowly evolving from “The Young and the Restless” to a reality show titled “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Nudity”?

I say hookers because that’s what everyone else is calling the characters. And no, to each their own opinion. So then I can express mine when I say it’s disgusting to see women attacking the bodies of other women by saying they look like hookers just by showing a bit of cleavage. Is there not a way to discuss the outfits without exaggerating and saying they look like hookers and hoochie and having their breasts hanging all out? It’s false. At least state a worthy statement that has some basis behind it.
