I did not like that at all. Of course, Leo has no filter, and he is a smart child, but Violet is young enough to still believe in Santa. When my cousin and I were in elementary school, we still believed in Santa. As we waited for the bell to ring to start our Christmas break, the teacher said "you all know there is not Santa Claus. I looked at him and he looked at me. To this day, we still resent the old heifer for telling us.

I thought that was a really stupid segment. Maybe little kids are watching this show with their parents. Now that kid outed the fact there’s no Santa Claus!

Lars December 19, 2023, 5:21am 5I saw it differently. I thought they handled it very sweetly and gently - for both of the children.
One of my granddaughter’s playmates is a boy who is a few years older than her and, like Leo, is on the spectrum. When she was 5, he told her there was no Santa (in a very similar way to the way, Leo shared with Violet). He told her that her parents are the ones that by the gifts. She asked me about that.
I told her that nonbelievers don’t get presents from Santa. He only delivers those to people who believe in him. And so her friend was right. If he didn’t believe in Santa anymore, his parents did have to buy him presents.
Just like Blaze’s explanation to Violet today, a simple, non-scientific explanation was all she needed. It’s two Christmases later, and she’s still very much a believer.

Speaking of Santa, I came across a quote for the day which said, “I stopped believing in Santa Claus when I was six. Mother took me to a department store to see him and he asked for my autograph.” Shirley Temple Black. For you young folks who may not know, Shirley Temple was a child star who appeared in many movies. One popular and controversial one was Heidi. Many years ago, CBS was to air Heidi. A tennis match was going on too long, and CBS cut it off to air Heidi on time.
