According to an interview given by PR and KA, they were doing a scene back in the day and he the term just popped out of his mouth, so he adlibbed it.

Yes, there is a history behind it and it has nothing to do with Bo insulting Hope by calling her FancyFace. PR/Bo ad libed it one day in a scene and Bo has called Hope that ever since.

I remember that Hope used to model makeup for a cosmetic company that Kate owned. Hope was in her teens and always wore the makeup she modeled and Bo kept calling her that after it slipped one day and TPTB liked it.

this is the second Kate right? seems like I remember another one before her. And yeah I don't think she was on when Hope was fun and exciting. I think Fancy Face is a special name Bo has for Hope.

He's been calling her that for decades and it's because her face is stunningly beautiful. Not because she had makeup on.
