Whats up with Missy Reeves? - Days of Our Lives

I have to say that it has been interesting to watch Cady McClain playing Jennifer. Her portrayal has been an enormous success, she even won an Emmy for those who don´t know, and she basically hit it out of the park.

Nevertheless, I do miss the old Jennifer. I have tried to find out some news every now and then about what´s going on, but so far nothing. It seems obvious that Ron Carlivati would prefer the new actress to stay in the role based on something I saw on a twitter post, and given past controversy, I can´t imagine that his politics are perfectly aligned with those of Melissa Reeves.

However, there is an air of familiarity should Melissa continue on in the role, even if at a later time. Something about hearing the voice of an actor who has long been with the show, and all the ties this has. I remember around the time that she last came back on the show in 2010, Mickey and Alice had recently died as characters, and Jennifer and Aunt Maggie were sitting at the Horton kitchen. It was like a passing of the torch and a celebration of who is left. Then Jennifer had some high profile sotrylines, especially with a recasted Eve Donovan. However, swinging back, Cady McClain´s work as Jennifer this past week during Sarah Horton´s wedding to Xander was, once more, uncanny and actually off the charts.

But in the end I do prefer Melissa Reeves in the role. There´s also something about the way she created and plays Jennifer that simply can´t be replicated… certain layers of sweetness also tied in with some smugness, and even snarkiness, which I so appreciate. Cady McClain is a fantastic option right now, but it also reminds me of how when Noelle Beck took over the role of Lily on ATWT during what turned out to be its final two year run… amazing choice, perfectly competent actress, absolutely wonderful fit, but for fans, she wasn´t Lily. And now here, during what is now Days´final two years on the air, it went out with a whimper, as the original Jennifer wasn´t even on screen, along with a slew of other characters to boot who are already MIA, and it all seemed a bit sad too. Almost also like an example of TPTB wanting a woke ¨new Days¨ versus the old, traditional kind. As great as Cady did, I knew that Melissa would have shined in those scenes with Maggie, battling a recurrence of her pain medication addiction in the aftermath of losing Abi, and then in the next being the Jennifer we all know and love in those wedding scenes, crying tears of joy.

Anyhow, I still have to watch Wednesday to Friday´s episodes, and then find out tomorrow if I can still locate new eps on Youtube and Dailymotion like I used to, because if I can´t, I may not be a Days watcher much longer anymore, so this might be my final highlight…
